Love in the Time Of Swine Flu

Love in the Time of Swine Flu:

(A comedy about sex, dating, and everything else terrifying)

Love in the Time of Swine Flu, the first show written by sketch group Stupid Time Machine, pokes fun at our deepest fears: STD’s, online stalkers, vampires and their ruthless cousins – Wall Street bankers – compelling audiences to think twice about what society tells them to dread.  Blending live sketch and video, the comedy ensemble Stupid Time Machine takes these terrors, de-pants them (right in the middle of the cafeteria!) and laughs heartily in their faces. “Ultimately,” says CJ Hunt, Stupid Time Machine’s artistic director “this show is about the extremes people go to in hopes of protecting themselves – whether that be guarding our hearts against heartbreak or securing our nation against terrorists and deadly flu pandemics.” Join Stupid Time Machine on this satirical romp through a recession-soaked world where anything – hell, everything -can kill you.

Premiering at the New Orleans International Fringe Festival in 2009, the show went on to be performed at the New Orleans Comedy Arts Festival, the Southern Repertory Theater, Le Chat Noir Theater, The New Movement Theater (Austin, TX), The Dallas Comedy House, all culminating in a week-long run at the 2010 New York Fringe Festival. Though it is no longer playing, the show can be revived should you wish to book it.

  • “It’s hard to make people laugh, dang it, and STM does an excellent job of that. In fact, I’m still talking about them and trying to explain to people this funny skit or that funny character; really, you’ll just have to see for yourself.” nytheater.com
