Bio

Hailing from the dirty gulf, Stupid Time  Machine is a New Orleans-based comedy group  known for their original sketch revues  and stone cold improv shows.

They create funny things and travel the country showing them to strangers.  Recent performances include San Francisco Sketchfest, Chicago SketchFest, the New York International Fringe Festival, Moontower Comedy and Oddity Festival, and  a mainstage run at iO West .  They have opened for fancy people like UCB TourCO, Pudding Thank You, and the Tim and Micah Project.

The group’s members teach and perform as co-founders of The New Movement, a professional improv theater and training center with locations in Austin and New Orleans.  Through providing high quality teaching, badass shows, and ambitious comedy festivals, they will transform the Gulf Coast into comedy’s next great comedy frontier.
The members of Stupid Time Machine are exceptional when it comes to dancing, pitiful when it comes to fighting, and always hungry when it comes to doing cool things with creative people.

  • “Thoroughly entertaining…at its best, it was like Saturday Night Live at its finest.” Time Out New York

    Greetings Fellow Joke Maker,

You have been identified as a person/group who has made another human laugh at least once in your life. As such, you are invited to submit a comedy video to Video SketchFest—a cutting-edge sketch comedy showcase featuring select videos from the Southeastern U.S.A. Video SketchFest is designed to highlight the innovative and avant-garde—think Monty Python, Kids In The Hall, Mr. Show, Dave Chappelle, Stella, Tim & Eric, Trailer Park Boys. If you do a spot-on Sarah Palin impersonation, good for you! But we don’t want to see it.

The Benefitz: If your video is selected it will be listed in our fancy program and will be seen by lots of people who will talk to lots of other people. Seriously though, Youtube has oceans of content and it’s difficult to get spotted in those waters. The goal of Video SketchFest is to get your material in front of audiences who are hungry for good sketch comedy. If they enjoy your stuff, they’ll spread the word. Also, it’s another beautiful feather for your resume cap.

The Celebriteez: Our celebrity judge for SketchFest is the talented Matt Besser of the Upright Citizen’s Brigade. Mr. Besser will review the Top 20 submissions and choose his favorite, which will be crowned the Belle of the Ball.

The Rulz: The deadline for video submission is October 1, 2010. Any submissions received after this date will not be accepted. Submissions must be sent as a playable DVD—no other formats will be accepted. A maximum of 4 videos may be submitted per person/group. Videos cannot be longer than five minutes each. We reserve the right to edit any submission for running time. Not all submissions will be included in the showcase (unfunny ones will be set on fire). After the showcase, your video may be posted on the Video Sketchfest website.

The Venuz: Video SketchFest is held at the Gallery at Avalon Island in beautiful downtown Orlando. The next showcase will take place on Thursday, October 14, 2010 @ 8:30 PM.

Spread the Word: Help us help sketch comedy! Do you have local comedy friends who might also be interested in submitting their videos? Then stop slacking and tell them about it! Forward this email to them and you will get ten bonus* points. (*Bonus points good for nothing.)
